Tambour, basma, chain and kanda-khayol are the four stitches traditionally used in embroidering suzani, a textile hailing from Central Asia. Nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have long crafted them with motifs depicting flowers, vines and fruits.
