Thanks to decades of careful acquisition and craftsmanship, our collection of textiles at The Carpet Cellar is unsurpassed. Our Persian Suzani pieces are amongst the jewels of our collection, but we also stunning antiques curated from Indonesia, Iraq, Africa, and Egypt.
Traditionally Suzanis (large panels of embroidered fabric) were made by Persian brides and their mothers, to be given as part of the dowry to the groom and his family. They represent the binding together of two families and were said to bring luck, health, long life, and fertility. These intricate textile pieces are wonderfully intricate and will become treasured parts of any collection.
