Vintage Uzbek Silk Handwoven Ikat Textile – Lava Red
Product Details
Ikat fabrics are created using a dyeing technique known as resist dying. This entails binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. Once the dyeing process is complete, the yarn is used to weave the fabric. This is how the blurred effect is achieved. An intensive process, Ikats origins can be traced back to Indonesia, Jakarta and India. These antique textiles bear witness to the incredible art and craft that existed decades ago and are worth preserving.
