Vintage Kalainav Kilim – Crossroad

42,000

The Kalainav tribes are migratory people who usually move between the borders of Afghanistan and Turkman. This hand woven kilim is a fine example of spectacular weaving technique and colour. The use of natural dyes like madder for red and indigo for the blue, adds to the complexity of the piece.

Description

It is common to note that the Kalainav kilims are not always symmetrical. This is primarily because no map or ‘Naksha’ is used by the weavers. Also, several members of the household weave the rug thus breaking the monotony for one. Kalainav Kilims are known for their geometric and colorful patterns. Featuring the traditional tribal designs, they make the perfect floor coverings for conventional, rustic, and vintage d?cors.
