Vintage examples, woven in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, are especially admired for their harmonious palettes, confident drawing, and the quiet maturity that only time can bestow. Hamadan is one of the oldest and most prolific weaving districts in Persia, encompassing numerous villages that have produced carpets for generations. The region is known for its sturdy construction and distinctive geometric interpretations of classical Persian motifs. Traditionally dyed with natural pigments, the hues soften with age into a harmonious patina, enhancing the carpet’s warmth and character while preserving its clarity of design.
