The Safavids were a dynastic family that ruled over modern-day Iran for over a centrury. This period was witness to the best of art and culture in the region. Unique artistic tastes and styles emerged and early Safavid artists worked diligently to create a cohesive visual identity that nevertheless reflected the diversity the Safavid dynasty. Carpets formed a large part of this creative movement and some of the most spectacular carpets created were from this era.

These revivals from the Carpet Cellar capture 2 key elements of the safavid Grandeur. The introduction of silk into the patterns, which elevates the design and visual impact as well as the inclusion of softer hues. Giving these magnificent rugs a transitional tone, we aim to to preserve the brilliance of design and make it much more amenable to current aesthetics.
