Originally commissioned during the 19th century under British patronage, jail carpets from Agra, Amritsar, and Lahore were woven by trained inmates, who created works of astonishing refinement. Drawing inspiration from Mughal garden layouts, Persian medallion motifs, and European decorative influences, these carpets are prized for their scale, intricacy, and harmony of design.
