Description

Created by nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, suzani textiles were often gifted to grooms by their brides as part of wedding dowries. They were adorned with symbols for luck, long life and fertility and embroidered using tambour, basma, chain and kanda-khayol stitches. These recreations are inspired by the famous textiles and attempt at bringing the beauty of the wall hangings into floor art.
