Antique Persian Kerman Aubusson – Medusa

Price available on request

Lavar Kerman Aubusson carpets occupy a unique intersection of East and West, showcasing Persian technical mastery applied to European design sensibilities. Borrowing from Aubusson rugs, many feature an oval or cartouche-style central medallion surrounded by trailing vine work. Unlike the deeper reds and indigos of traditional Kerman rugs, Lavar Aubussons favor ivory grounds and gentle hues.

Product Details

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the flourishing carpet workshops of Lavar, a district in Kerman province, produced a distinctive line of carpets that blended traditional Persian aesthetics with Aubusson-inspired layouts imported from France. Because relatively few were produced—and even fewer survive in good condition—they are prized by collectors for their rarity, cross-cultural narrative, and distinctive aesthetic that bridges two great textile traditions.
