During the Mughal period, carpet weaving on the subcontinent thrived, resulting in beautiful pieces like this antique Amritsar “jail” rug. Throughout the period, weavers incorporated their own patterns, designs and weaving techniques, many of which survive to this day.

Care instructions

- Do not soak or leave the rug sitting wet
- Blot immediately if there are any spills, and clean the spot with carbonated water and mild liquid soap
- Place furniture coasters under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening the rug
