The Kazak rugs have distinct medallions in the centre which is very common in several pieces from this region. However, the emphasis on symbolism is far greater in some, such as this rug. One can see the eight pointed star denoting happiness, the ram horn denoting power and heroisn, the S symbol for protection and many others. The beliefs and superstitions is what distinguishes such rugs and adds a sense of mystery.
