Description

The Balouch tribes were spread across south- east Persia and north-west Afghanistan. These tribes traveled across borders and regions with their livestock in search of better weather, markets for their product and even for marital alliances. The results of this movement is clearly visible in the various kilims created by them. The simple striped pattern to the more intrcate depiction of flora and fauna, these tribes captured many attributes of their surroundings. Use of mixed animal wool, vegetable dyes and a unique knotting always helped differentiate these flat weaves.
