The city of Kashan was known for its finest royal carpet workshops, these were the hub of manufacturing the finest Persian carpets. Royal Kurk Kashan rugs usually had a dark base color with tiny floral motifs and curvilinear designs. The carpets generally featured maroon or dark blue background. “Kurk” was the type of top-grade wool that was used by the weavers to create these stunning pieces. The central medallion was filled with smaller motifs and the design was framed perfectly with a thick border.
