Product Details

The weavers from the Mughal times flourished during British India as these jails in India became a hub for artisans. The primary use of cotton was to keep the indoors cool in the tropical climate. This particular flatweave has the date and possibly the destination, woven within the rug. The rug has “exhibition 1929” displayed clearly which could signify that it was made for that purpose or the weaver wanted to capture some aspect of the year on this piece.
