These were very specific long haired carpets used by Uzbeki tribals, sometimes as floor coverings to sleep on, sometimes as blankets or even as a wall hanging to warm a tent or room. Predominantly made with goat wool, it was not uncommon for the use of yak or horse hair for these pieces as well. The material depended on the flock that the tribe possessed at a given point in time. The Zille Khurz rugs were usually made with bright bold designs and colors to offset the dry and mundane surroundings of the tribes.
