  • Mashad carpets come from the city of Mashad , the holiest city which is located at east of Iran, in the province of Khorasan. The wool used to make Mashad carpets is soft and the pile is tight and thin. Dark red, blue and khaki are the colours used in the carpets, the weaves of Mashad carpets is completely different from others , as the use of blue weft, makes it an easy antique carpet to identify. The patterns are curvilinear with a single central medallion, floral designs and motifs occupy the background.
