With access to professionals who can offer expert advice as you create your woven dream, The Carpet Cellar is a one-stop resource for your rug design needs.

Carpets are a design necessity and an integral part of most spaces. For some buying a handmade rug is purely based on aesthetic choice, it is a reflection of an individuals’ decorative preference, home décor style and personality. For others, it is an investment in a work of art. Whatever the reason, hand-knotted rugs have both life span and value to be passed on from generation to generation as a family heirloom.

One of the most daunting aspects of buying a carpet is to identify the design that best suits a person or space. There are many facets to be considered, be it size, design, color, conformity and coordination with overall setup and many more. Rugs tend to be the final purchase when setting up a room or space, and therefore play an important role in creating uniformity and harmony, bringing together the space as a whole. To help ease you through the process, and to best address your concerns and queries, we have put together a preliminary toolkit to make the process easier and smoother for our clients.

Room Planning

Identifying and understanding the space where the carpet will be laid out is the first step in the process. Personal choice will play a big role in this process as well, determine the optimal space for a carpet that suits your living style and décor. For example, some large spaces may work better with two or three smaller-sized rugs, allowing to break up the seating areas into smaller zones, versus one very large one.
