Indian Cotton Jail Carpets |
The history of the Indian Cotton Jail Carpets dates back to the era when the British came and colonized India and revived the weaving of Durries (Kilims) and carpets started by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the 16th Century. The carpet weaving in Jails was taught to the inmates in order to provide an alternate livelihood for the prisoners once they got out of jail. |
